Thanks to the dedication of our Gardening Club and students involved in garden interventions, we’ve reached a new milestone in sustainable gardening. By gaining the Level 3 award, we have been awarded a certificate, a £50 gardening voucher, a book on wild gardening and some seeds for next spring from the RHS.
The Level 3 award recognises that our students can identify and look after a range of plants in the garden. Students have identified and tried edible flowers, noticing that a nasturtium is peppery in taste. The group had a bean picnic in the summer with broad beans grown in our school garden. They also grew carrots, which they took home to share with their family.
Special shout-out to Emily B (Year 8) for growing the biggest beetroot we’ve ever seen!
We’re now working towards Level 4 - and hoping for pumpkins big enough to carve soon!
